Cat Heatwave Survival: Our Portable Fan Reviews
It’s cat heatwave survival time, and we’ve been putting our fan collection to the test to keep the melting to a minimum. These results are unfiltered and aren’t sponsored in any way.
What’s actually keeping us cool?
Surviving a UK summer without AC, ceiling fans, or ice is a full-time job. We’ve been testing every fan we can get our paws on, but eventually, the question becomes: just how much air do we actually need to stop melting?
The Results Are In
You won’t believe who the winner is… 🤫
Russell Hobbs – Scandi Style Fan
Russell Hobbs – Scandi Style Fan (3/5): It’s affordable and looks the part, but it’s definitely flimsy. While the oscillation broke quickly, it still moves air when the heat is unbearable and standards start to slip.
Shark FlexBreeze Fan
Shark FlexBreeze (5/5): A massive overachiever. It is powerful, looks cool, and the ability to go cordless or separate from the base makes it useful on the floor, desk, or as a pedestal fan.
Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool
Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool (4/5): Great for the bedroom, but in the living room, it mostly just provides a “stylish design”.
AirCraft Fan
AirCraft (5/5): The best-looking option of the lot. It rotates and tilts to move air effectively, and it’s surprisingly quiet. Plus, the dimmable back light is a total vibe.
Munchie Rabbitovitz, our resident genius and Chief Cat Comfort Officer, put together this ‘Fan Needed’ formula so you can stop guessing and start cooling down. Just input your room size and set the heat level. See how many fans you’ll need to stop the air from feeling like a stagnant soup.
How Many Fans to Survive?
How to use this:
- Enter your room size: Measure your floor space in square meters (m2).
- Select your heat level: Choose the setting that matches how intense the summer heat is feeling today - we went with 'Raging' for today 🥵
- Get your result: Click the button to see how many high-performance fans (like the Shark FlexBreeze or AirCraft) you’ll need to create a comfortable breeze across the entire room.
Pro Tip: For the best cooling effect, don't just put all the fans in one corner. Space them out around the room to create a "cross-breeze" effect that prevents hot air from getting trapped in dead zones.
Conclusion
Stay cool and keep the air moving. Meowch!

hot enough for you..?
